Abstract

Biodiesel is one of alternative renewable energy source to substitute diesel fuel. Various biodiesel productionprocesses through transesterification reaction with a variety of catalysts have been developed by previousresearcher. This process still has the disadvantage of a long reaction time, and high energy need. DielectricBarrier Discharge (DBD) plasma electro-catalysis may become a solution to overcome the drawbacks in theconventional transesterification process. This process only needs a short time reaction and low energy process.The purpose of this study was to assess the performance of DBD plasma rector in making biodiesel such as: theeffect of high voltage electric value, electrodes gap, mole ratio of methanol / oil, and reaction time. TheResearch method was using GC-MS (Gas Cromatography-Mass Spectrofotometry) and FTIR (FourierTransform Infrared Spectrofotometry) and then it will be analysed the change of chemical bond betweenreactant and product. So, the reaction mechanism can be predicted. Biodiesel is produced using methanol andpalm oil as reactants and DBD plasma used as reactor in batch system. Then, reactants contacted by highvoltage electric. From the results of this research can be concluded that the reaction mechanism occurs in theprocess is the reaction mechanism of cracking, the higher of electric voltage and the longer of reaction time leadto increasing of product yield. The more of mole ratio of methanol / oil and widening the gap between theelectrodes lead to decreased product yield. From this research, product yield maksimum is 89,8% in the variableof rasio mol metanol/palm oil 3:1, voltage 10 kV, electrode gap 1,5 cm, and reaction time 30 seconds.

Abstract

Existing treatment leachate from Sarimukti Landfill doesn’t meet the quality standards of waste water.Preliminary treatment is necessary to break down persistent leachate compounds. Ozone can act directly orindirectly with organic material (Glaze 1986). Column batch reactor system use one liter volume. Ozone ispumped into the leachate in the form of fine bubbles. Variations include Ozone Pumping Flow, Ratio ofhigh/diameter (t/d), and pH. Kinetic Reaction of oxygen dissolution in the average leachate is zero order.Increased pumping air discharge and increased pH makes ozone transfer process better. Best value occurs at pH11, where the value of the reaction rate constant ozone 1.48. The average percentage of organic materialallowance 31% COD and 26% TOC. The decline TOC and COD have a tendency to be influenced by the pHoptimum 8-9. At alkaline pH makes carbonate (CO3) formed the greater, that make ozone compounds killquickly. FTIR results showed the intensity of hydroxyl groups increased after ozone oxidation where thesubstitution of functional groups of organic matter associated with electrophilic addition reaction of oxygenatoms. Existence Fulfic acid also increased the effect compounds and Humic Acid, Humad large has been cut byradicals.

Abstract

Bangka island as a whole has undergone a significant change related thereto. Group of fishermen coastalcommunities are the most vulnerable to changing weather and coastal environment. In the village of BatuBelubang, frequent extreme weather phenomena of the cyclone and the rapid change of weather, had forced thepopulation to adapt to climate change. The livelihoods of fishermen who rely heavily on natural conditions causethe dependence on weather patterns and ocean activities.This research uses qualitative analysis with the positivistic approach. The method of data collection is done withthe interview focused and observational field to see the real conditions and survey agencies to obtainpreliminary data regarding the level of climate change that occurred in the region. The analysis is done byassessing the linkages/relationship of the destructive effects of climate change on livelihoods of fishermen.From the analysis carried out, the main reason for the occurrence of the transition is economic livelihood. Thistransition is triggered by vulnerability due to climate change and the existence of externalities, namely adeterioration of Tin prices and the pepper in the international market in 1990 which was then backed up bypolicy changes after regional autonomy in 2001. The welfare obtained from short-term floating mines have hugeconsequences for the coastal environmental damage that would lead to a condition in which a new vulnerability.Key words : the transition of livelihood, adaptation, fisherman

Abstract

In certain settlement, human always interact with the physical setting arround of them. That interaction causesperception inside of that human, because perception is the process of organizing and interpretating of stimulusprovided by the environment (Rita, 1983). So the perception is strongly influenced by the individual human andphysical surroundings. Based on the theory of perception, found problems in Tambak Mulyo as fishermensettlement in Semarang, where the inhabitants of Tambak Mulyo do the communal activities on the roadenvironment. Road environment should be a mode of land transport circulation is also used for the communalspace. Seeing this phenomenon, it can be concluded that there is the perception of communal space in thefishermen settlement in Tambak Mulyo. And this study aimed to explore the factors forming the perception ofcommunal space.In answering the research objectives, the research paradigm used is a quantitative rationalistic to constructfactor variables. In constructing the factor variabless, based on the theory that the perception of the individualand the setting up of the physical environment (Sarlito, 1992). So that the required variables are perceptionvariables and variables of communal space. The variables is operationalized into a questionnaire that is easy tounderstand the respondents, next after the questionnaire data collected, the data were analyzed using factoranalysis statistical test, so of many variable factors that could wake is reduced to just a few factors thatsignificantly causes the perception of communal space in the fishermen settlement.At the output of this research, revealed about the causal factors of the perception of communal space in thefishermen settlement. These factors is a collection of variable factors that have a strong correlation in theanalysis. By knowing the factors forming the perception of communal space in the fishing settlement, expected toprovide input in the planning and design of fishing settlements.Key words : Perception, Communal Space, Physical Setting

Abstract

This study compares the effectiveness of the flushing of sediment in the reservoir by means of flushing andSluicing way, based on Physical Hydraulic Test (Model Test) in the laboratory. Flushing is removingaccumulated deposited sediment. While slucing is releasing of sediment through the reservoir beforesettled or keep sediment remain in suspension and its occur during flood period. Sediments FlushEffectiveness represented by the percentage of released sediment by sediment deposited or the amount ofsediment entering the reservoir during the flushing period.The model based on the prototipe from DetailDesign of Structural Countermeasures for Sedimentation on Wonogiri Reservoir by Nippon Koei 2009.Running model duration is one hour, used free flow and submergence condition, with discharge variationQ=100, 200 and 400 m3/s. Sluicing experiments conducted with some 60 liters of sediment sprinkle evenlywide flow, and Flushing implemented by 2,00 m thickness of deposited sediment that spreaded over thereservoir bottom before running. From this research showed that Sluicing way more efficient than theflushing way, where the number of efficiency of sediment Sluicing way bigger than the efficiency offlusing way, in the running an hour in the laboratory test

Abstract

Settlement of north Kampung Code which located on the riverbanks of Kali Code in Yogyakarta, has a diversevisual character, so that visually appear to be dynamic and irregular.Yusuf Bilyarta Mangunwijaya participatefully in shaping the visual character of the settlement of the north Kampung Code. The aim of this research is toknow the effect of characteristics design of YB. Mangunwijaya on the visual character of settlement riverbank inthe North Kampung Code.Quantitative-rasionalistic method was used in this research, based on the results of respondents answer inobservation the visual character of the north Kampung Code settlement. Testing using the test statistic basedfrom the answer of the respondents to the questionnaire. Quantitatively, the study was determined using outputrating statistics. Then the hypothesis testing was done through a linear regression analysis which serves toidentity that effect. Test conducted on the variable of characteristics design of Mangunwijaya consists of unitedwith nature, local, efficient, honest, detail and creative.The conclusions is a significant effect the characteristics design of YB. Mangunwijay on the visual character ofthe north Kampung Code was shown in this work.Correlation between respondents answer with theoryexplanation. Abstract

Due to restriction of land availability it is frequently we have to build constructions on soft or low bearingcapacity soils, so that soil stabilization must be applied in order to increase its properties. There are manytechniques of soil stabilization, where its applicability depends on many factors regarding appropriateengineering judgement. This paper presents the soil stabilization method by jet grouting, including its theory andpractice.

Abstract

Elderly is people who aged 60 years and older and generaly has decreased physical and psychological. Thenumber of elderly in Kelurahan Krobokan has reached 8.9%, its means that the region can be said to havean old structure. Elderly in Kelurahan Krobokan can still use their environment can still use theirenvironment to get to a certain social facilities to meet their needs. Existing spatial pattern in the district isusing a grid that has a lot of intersections. The purpose of this study was to determine the physical aspects ofthe elements forming a regular grid patterns that exist in the area of research, so as to affect the nonphysicalaspects of the ability range of the elderly.Research methods that will be used is a qualitative method rationalistic. Where the assessment is used toform a grand theory of concept consisting of the variables that will be connected. Then the data analysisstarts from reviewing and systematics of data that has been obtained by grouping data into variables thathave been previously determined. The group is then presented in the form of maps, patterns, percentages andnarrative text. The data that has been arranged, then made a conclusion and interpretation.An analysis found that the grid pattern affect the ability of elderly to use their environment. The positiveinfluence that can reach the elderly Kelurahan Krobokan social facilities they want them to go the distanceeven beyond their ability.

Abstract

The noise affects to working quality at the same degree as those to workforce and people health, therefore,appropriate noise control is indispensable. This study is aimed at evaluating of rockwool (5cm) absorptioncoefficient and analyzing its effectivity on noise control. The room for simulation is equipped with known noisesource. In this case a sound system instrument and portable fire pump were used. The tested noise frequencieswere in the range of human hearing threshold for which an equalizer instrument was used to identify the soundfrequencies.Based on this study, the rockwool absorption coefficients were 0.8, 0.96, 0.98, 0.82 for sound frequency of 500Hz, 1000 Hz, 2000 Hz and 4000 Hz respectively. By installing the rockwool on 37.97% of room area of 72 m2,this rockwool was able to reduce the noise intensity by 10.16 dBA, 10.75 dBA, 10.5 dBA, 9.58 dBA, 9.25 dBA forfrequency of 500 Hz, 1000 Hz, 2000 Hz, 4000 Hz and multiple frequencies respectively.The rockwool is an effective sound absorber in noise control owing to have high absorption coefficient (almostunity) and ease for installment.
